Our Mission
Democracy in Action is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening democracy through civic education, leadership development, sound public policy, and support for community organizations. We equip individuals, organizations, and under-resourced communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to understand government, participate in elections, influence public policy, and improve the quality of life in their communities.

We envision healthy, informed, and economically thriving communities where every resident has equitable access to leadership opportunities, quality healthcare, nutritious food, meaningful employment, and a voice in shaping public policy.
Our Story
Democracy in Action was founded on the belief that lasting change begins with informed people and strong community leadership. Too many communities continue to face barriers to healthcare, economic opportunity, healthy food, and civic participation. We work to remove those barriers by developing leaders, educating residents about public policy, strengthening community organizations, and building partnerships that improve lives. Leadership, advocacy, and collaboration create sustainable change.
